Volunteers headed to the Murray Bridge RSL to donate their time and musclesto help fix the bowling green last week.

More than 60people helped to roll up the bowling green turf to beginearthworks to level out the unevenground.

The project was forced following a noticeably poor job fromthe first time the green was created.

Treasurer and member of the RSL Management Committee Perrin Kuchel said the drainage system was not done properly and the club was frustrated with the work.

Complaints had been made about the uneven ground leaving players unwilling to play at the green because of the way it would affect the way their bowls would roll.

The Murray Bridge RSL received a grant of $55,000 from the Department of Veteran Affairs, $32,000 of which was used for the bowling green, with the remaining $23,000 used to renovate the kitchen.

“Fixing the greens will hopefully attract new members to the bowling grounds,” Mr Kuchel said.
