Hunter’s finals hopes are over but opponentsCronulla need to win both home games to hang onto sixth place.Hurricanes coach Al Caldwell said: “All we want to do is stop them from making the finals, just like they did to us three years ago.”

“They need to win both games. If they lose one to us, they are out and the Barracudas are in.”

Cronulla upset the Hurricanes on the final weekend of the regular season three years ago to end Hunter’s play-off hopes.

Caldwell said the defeat was fresh in the minds of players and would be a motivating factor but the odds were with Cronulla, who haveKiwi star Joe Kayes in their ranks.

“We’re not expectedto win because it’s a tough game,” Caldwell said.

“They’ve got the big Kiwi import, who’s a minimum five-goals-a-game player, and we’ve got a few out with work commitments and other things.

“We’re just going down to try to finish the season on a high.”

Matt Skinner is among those missing for the Hurricanes.

Hunter play Cronulla at 7pm Saturday and 12.30pm Sunday. The Hurricanes women’s side take on the Sharks at 5.30pm Saturday and 11am Sunday.
